Single Leg Take Down Front Leg

Now you and your opponent are in a standing grappling position. Knees are bent, your hands are both locked in on anywhere from the elbow, to the top of the shoulder. You're going to get your arm under your opponent's and position your head at their pectoral.

Before you go in for the leg, what you should do is simply push your opponent's arm up slightly so this makes it difficult for them to step back or counter your single. You are going to drop your hand that is on the same side as their front leg down behind their knee (i.e. your right hand would grab their left knee and vice versa). Step forward with the same leg as the hand that is grabbing the leg, with your foot positioned right behind their leg, limiting your opponent's chance to step back.

Quickly grab the leg of the opponent while shooting your body forward with your head buried in their chest. If executed properly this will get them off balance. This enables you to have an advantaged position for a ground pounding or a submission. Keep in mind that this particular single leg takedown is very common in MMA, so if you are going to attempt it make sure that you are quick, accurate and not so obvious.
